Longines' roots began
in 1832, but the company got its name in 1866 when it
located its factory on the bank of the river Suze at the
place called "Les Longines".
Their first movement, a pocket watch, was produced in
1867. It was wound and set by the crown when other watches
at the time were wound and set with a separate key.
 Starting
with this first watch, Longines engraved the now famous
winged hourglass on all movements in their battle against
counterfeit watches.
Longines soon became known for
manufacturing elegant watches. Its latest introduction
is the Master Collection.
